Dear Friends,
Happy May Day! When I was young, there was a tradition to give flowers to someone that is important to you. In elementary school, we used to make paper flowers or grow flowers to give to our mothers or neighbors. I didn’t realize how much I missed the tradition until I moved to Hawaii as a young mother. There, May Day is called Lei Day. The tradition is that you give leis to parents, teachers, children, and friends. It might be a wonderful tradition to start with the children that you care for.
Now for the great news. The directors’ forum on writing resumes and cover letters was approved, and is scheduled for June 11th. We have two in-person classes scheduled for June 15th. The first is emergency preparedness, and the second is cybersecurity for child care programs. Our region is one of the few places in the state that it is being offered. Both classes are being held at the Fair Oaks Mall. So sign up for both, and treat yourself to lunch afterwards!
Depending upon interest, we are considering offering another MAT class in Woodbridge on a Saturday in July. Email Donna, if you are interested in attending. The cost is $100 per person. We could offer 2 classes (morning and afternoon) for up to 8 people each class. The instructor requires a minimum of 6 people register in a class to hold the class.
Finally, we were approved to offer two additional first aid and cpr classes before the end of our annual contract. I can guarantee these cpr classes will be the last classes until the beginning of the new school year.
Have a wonderful May,
Donna
