Training Course Information

The following training classes are open to the public. You can register and pay online below. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Those who live in Spotsylvania OR who work in a child care / preschool program located in Spotsylvania County can pay a discounted fee for some of these training classes (not including First Aid & CPR) thanks to funding from the Spotsylvania Department of Social Services Child Care Quality Initiatives.

Additional Training Hour

You have the opportunity to earn 1 additional training hour for demonstrating the use of the information you learned at a training class from The Childcare Network. There is no deadline for this credit, and the cost is $5.

Giving Your Best: Making Secure Attachments

Saturday, June 8, 11:30am-1:30pm

If you make a list of qualities of successful adults it will likely include: confidence, independence, strong social skills, resilience, cooperation, etc. The foundation for these traits is built on the relationships that infants and toddlers form with the adults in their world. Share what participants can provide for children today to help prepare them to be successful adults tomorrow.

There is NO COST for this training for those who work in a state licensed child care home, center or preschool that is located in Prince William, Stafford or Spotsylvania County.  All others pay $10.  You must register online - walk-in registrations are not accepted.  This workshop is offered by The Childcare Network through Penn State.

PCAN: Challenging Behaviors of Infants and Toddlers

Saturday, June 8, 2:00-4:00pm

Challenging behavior in infant-toddler child care is inevitable. What is the best way to respond to a child who is preverbal, who does not yet use logic, and whose memory can't yet retain rules and limits over the long term? Challenging behavior can evoke strong emotional reactions from child care professionals who are working to respond to such incidents in a sensitive, supportive and nurturing ways. This training will discuss strategies for analyzing and coping with challenging behavior and how to discuss the children’s challenging behavior with parents.
